The Grand Palace in Bangkok is probobly the number 1 must-see attraction in the whole of Thailand. It’s an incredibly beautiful place and well worth visiting. The area around The Grand Palace is a good area to stay as you will be close to Wat Arun, Wat Pho, the Khao San Rd, Jim Thompson House, Chinatown, the river jetties, and some BTS stations.

In our opinion, being near the Grand Palace is probably the best place to stay in Bangkok with many luxury hotels nearby, particularly on the riverside, plus cheaper hostels, guest houses and small hotels also in the vicinity.

There will be many places to eat near the Grand Palace. The only Michelin Star holding street food stall in BKK isn’t far away and you will find endless good restaurant options in the vicinty. Rambuttri Rd, (Soi Rambuttri) the next street over from Khao San Rd (as you walk away from the Grand Palace) has plenty of dining options.

For nicer restaurants, head to the river.

Getting around Thailand is always easy, and near the Grand Palace you will be able to take a tuk tuk, or taxi, a public bus, an express river boat, or use the Bangkok BTS. But many attractions in this area will be within walking distance.

At such a major tourist attraction you’ll need to agree a price with a taxi or tuk tuk driver before getting in the vehicle, or be certain he will use his meter.
