Most of the biggest and best hotels in Port Douglas do not allow dogs to stay, other than assistance dogs, but a handful of hotels, camp sites and villas, will allow dogs and pets. We run through the best Port Douglas hotels with dogs.

Port Douglas With Dog

Some Port Douglas restaurants and pubs will also allow dogs on the premises. You can find more information in our post, where to eat in Port Douglas with your dog. I’ll give you the link at the end of this post. We are Port Douglas residents, and we own a puppy, so much research has been done on this topic!

Be aware that dogs are only allowed on certain parts of Port Douglas Four Mile Beach (the southern end, away from the stinger net, and that if leash rules aren’t followed, there are fines. Also, try to keep your dogs away from any body of water in Port Douglas, dogs can be taken by crocodiles in Australia.

Please check your chosen booking’s pet policy for yourself, because these policies can change at short notice.

The Court House Hotel Port Douglas banned dogs in October 2023. We have no clue why, the dining is on the pavement so it seems very odd. Instead of going there, drive up the hill to the Julatten Hotel where your dog can have his photo taken for the dog board. I think pubs that welcome dogs are much more likely to receive our custom, don’t you? It’s a shame, as we were frequent Courthouse customers.
