Trying Out Parker Baby Co Packing Cubes

We’ve owned a lot of packing cubes and travel organisers over the years. We still own our e-bags packing cubes, they’re still good some 12 years later. Along the way, we also bought cheaper versions from the big A store. They weren’t great quality. E Bags still reigned supreme, but lately, it’s been hard to find any E Bags product online. I think they may have closed down. This means, we’re open to testing out alternative packing cube brands. Parker Baby Co. reached out to me a few weeks ago and asked me to test out their product. Why not?

These packing cubes and other accessories are perfect for travel with babies and toddlers. They’re also suitable for general travel needs.

This post is not sponsored, I’m simply looking at, and using, their product and telling you what I think. I’ll also go into how and when we use packing cubes, and when we don’t. You can guarantee that this review of Parker Baby Co. products is genuine.

Parker Baby Co are based in Parker Colorado, USA. They delivered my items to Australia, which is rare!

3 grey packing cubes
My set of 3 soft grey packing cubes from Parker. To give you an idea of size I have a bulky pair of jeans in the bottom cube and 8 tops in the medium cube. They’re a good size for travel.

How and When We Use Packing Cubes

We used packing cubes extensively during the almost 7 years we travelled full-time with the kids. During this period we had hold luggage and carry-on luggage, and we carried a lot of “stuff.”

Parker packing cubes vs eBags packing cubes
The Parker packing cubes alongside the eBags medium packing cube from a set of 3. The eBags cubes were the best we ever bought. They’re hard to find now. I’d say that the Parker cubes are just as good and at a similar price. There are some poor-quality packing cubes on the market, we’ve bought a lot of different brands over the years.

This included toys, electronics, clothing, medical necessities and toiletries for a family. It was a lot, and it needed organising using packing cubes and organisers.

In recent years our trips have been from a home base and no longer than 2-3 months. Our last trip to the UK and Asia, was only 1 month, for short trips like this we just take carry-on luggage.

Do we still use packing cubes when travelling with only carry-on? We do, but only 1 packing cube. Packing cubes are still one of our “Travel Essentials.”

Why is that? When you are travelling with just carry-on you have to be very aware of weight limits. Our carry-on bags can’t go over 7 kg. I travel with my laptop, because I have to work. That laptop has to come out of my bag at airport security and go through the scanner. To make my life easier, any clothing, toiletries or sundries in that bag go into a large packing cube. Who wants to pull out individual items and security and stuff them back in? Not me.

1 large packing cube makes my life easier and the security process swifter.

When you’re travelling with hold luggage weight isn’t usually an issue and you have a lot of “stuff” to rummage through. Packing cubes make your case or backpack organised and you can find items more easily. Particularly if you’re travelling with a 90L backpack, as my husband does.

What Goes In The Packing Cubes.

You can use the travel packing cubes for anything you like. We always had one for toys, one for electrical leads and travel adapters, of which there were many, and then others for underwear or tops, or waterproofs, or whatever we needed to keep separate.

Using Packing Cubes at Home

We still use packing cubes when we’re not travelling. To this day those electrical leads and chargers live in their medium E Bags packing cube. You can see this red cube in the photo. My husband uses them to organise his drawers too, keeping sportswear separate and easy to find when he heads out the door for a run at 5 am.

Packing cubes are really useful!

These Parker Baby Co packing cubes are aimed at young families with babies. They have a nice range of co-ordinated baby products. These would be great in your carry-on nappy bag! Parker’s carry on backpack is here.

I guess they wanted me to take a look and see if a baby product translated into a general travel product. These packing cubes are great as far as I can see in only a couple of days of testing them out.

Review of Parker Baby Co Set of 3 Packing Cubes

Straight out of the pack, these cubes seem to be good quality. The materials are sturdy, the stitching is good and the zips, with cute tags, are robust.

I chose the soft grey colour, I like it, and the embroidered Parker Baby Co logo on each is cute.

The two larger packing cubes have mesh lids, the smallest cube has a clear plastic lid.

Packing cube with a clear lid showing medical items inside
This is the smallest of the 3 packing cubes, with the clear plastic lid. Here I have it in use as a travel medical kit, but it would be great for toiletries.

The cubes are of different depths, lending them to different uses.

Both of the larger bags are a similar size to the eBags medium cube, one is longer and shallower, one is shorter and deeper. I think both would hold all of the electrical leads you can see in the photo below.

But most normal humans don’t travel with this many leads and adapters!

The smallest packing cube, with the clear plastic lid is, I guess, designed for liquids. It’s pretty small but would be plenty big enough for makeup or basic toiletries.

I will use it for makeup on my next trip. I usually wrap a toothbrush and toothbrush in a clean washcloth to keep my brush clean on the trip. That would fit in the small bag too.

I’m not sure how well this plastic lid would go in the washing machine, I always wash cubes. The care instructions from Parker Baby Co are to wipe clean with a damp cloth.

This set of packing cubes is priced at $28 US, which is quite reasonable. (Price checked 24 Oct 2024, it may change.) A small cost for an item that should last years. Today I can’t find any eBags packing cubes on Amazon at all. Typical costs for a packing cube set there is $20-$30 US.

These packing cubes co-ordinate nicely with other “on the go” baby products, including diaper bags, changing mats and wet/dry packs. These are items you will certainly need for travel with an infant!
