Phuket

Phuket is one of Thailand’s islands in the Andaman Sea, to the west of mainland Thailand. It has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches and destinations and is hugely popular with tourists. Most beaches are along Phuket’s west coast where waters are clear and blue. You will find many luxury resorts on Phuket but the island is less popular with long term travellers or backpackers although it is possible to visit Phuket in this way. Restaurants come at all price points, some good, some bad. Phuket City is the capital and here you will find the picturesque and characterful Old Town. The island has plentiful night markets for tourists and locals. Patong is the main tourist town and has a dubious reputation because of it’s many bars and massage establishments.
