No, we haven't been to Antarctica, but as the only continent we're yet to visit, it's on the list. There was a gaping Antarctica shaped hole on our travel blog, so we asked our blogger friends to clue us up on taking kids to Antarctica. I'd so love to go, how about you? It sounds pretty warm compared to Romania and there is so much to learn about the world's fifth largest … [Read more...]
Travel With Kids
This index holds all of our posts relating to travel with kids, including tips for travel with kids, popular destinations for family travel and experiences of travel with kids. The blog posts below and on subsequent pages relate directly to travel and vacations with kids, from babies to teens and tweens. We hope you find what you're looking for.
A lady in our Living Differently group was telling me yesterday how a photo I shared had stuck in her head and constantly inspired her to keep working towards her own dream lifestyle. It was the one below, taken in Richmond Upon Thames, London. Home, after too many years away.It was incredible to be back walking familiar streets once more, and what screams … [Read more...]
It's traditional to do a year-end wrap post, so here goes with 2016. This year was a big one for me, it was my 50th on this endlessly fascinating planet. I'd like another 50 years of exploration but I doubt that will happen so I'll just concentrate on sucking all the life out of however many more I'm given and sharing those experiences with you. So 2016, and more, 50 years of … [Read more...]
This is a hotel with a wow factor! After enjoying 3 days at Novotel Surin Beach we moved on to Novotel Karon beach, still on the island of Phuket, Thailand. Surin was superb, but Karon took hospitality to the next level. Everything we loved about Novotel Surin Beach was still there, but Novotel Phuket Karon Beach took everything a step or two further. Novotel Phuket Karon Beach … [Read more...]
Just behind the clear blue Andaman Sea, the sand, the palm trees and the scrubby foreshore sits Novotel Phuket Surin Beach. We checked in for a few nights to take a break from long-term family travel, to relax, pamper and unwind after 5 weeks exploring Thailand. Our stay coincided with the Phuket Ironman event my husband was competing in, perfect location, perfect facilities … [Read more...]
I received an e-mail from a reader recently. He and his wife were thinking of taking their child on a travel adventure, a taste of worldschooling, but were concerned about socialization. They thought she wouldn't "get enough socialization away from her friends" and asked for my opinion. It's an interesting question. Here we're obviously taking the word socialization in it's … [Read more...]
Finding accommodation as you travel ( budget to free being hardest) is a huge topic and one that is mentioned all over this website, but you, and I, need one post to put everything on the same page. Finding a place to stay, be it a hotel, guest house, hostel, apartment, caravan, mud hut or longboat is often the hardest part of travel and if you have a family, particularly a … [Read more...]
Readers and Skype consult clients are forever asking me how to make sure kids are safe on the road. There are all sorts of fears in the minds of anxious parents, what if kids get lost? How will they find us again in a foreign country? Could the kids be kidnapped or snatched? What if they get diarrhoea, malaria, sunstroke or ebola? I can't offer all the answers, but I can tell … [Read more...]
You're here because you think travel is a great thing for your kids and you've heard of worldschooling and would like to try it. Right? I want to help because world schooling ( or nomadic homeschooling) has been my full-time job since 2012, we love learning as we travel and we want more people to try it. My boys are 12 and 10 now, we are a full time digital nomad family and … [Read more...]
This is an old post. It was written when I finally woke up to what we'd achieved, it was the moment everything changed for us and our website's following and monthly views started going through the roof. It was when I first came up with the concept of " Living Differently" and was meant to inspire and help others do likewise. Back then, 2016, I wrote:How many years have I … [Read more...]
